VSS // TECHNICAL DAY 2014 // 8 APRIL 2014

The Swiss Association of Road and Transport Professionals "VSS" organises its traditional annual technical day. This year's theme is "Sustainable and environmentally friendly pavements".

Environmental protection and energy efficiency are important topics that are also topical in road construction. This is why the technical commissions FK 4 and FK 5 of the VSS launched two research packages on this issue five years ago. The results are now available and will be presented at this VSS event. The research project "Recycling demolition bituminous materials in hot mix asphalt" aims to use the large quantities of recycled bituminous mix available and increase their proportion in the production of hot mix asphalt. Given the limited feedback on their performance and durability, these recycled mixes have been the subject of an in-depth study. The PLANET project "Low energy and ecological impact asphalt mixes" made it possible to compare different types of warm mixes. In addition to extensive laboratory analyses, a test section was built to study mechanical and ecological aspects, as well as hygiene conditions for workers. After the summary of the research results, speakers from neighbouring countries will present their experiences and propose solutions.
